The 12a made its first appearence of the season at the Central PA Legends season opener at Lincoln Speedway. This was the first night that Shawn had the car on a race track. The 12x also was on hand and was driven by Shannon McIntosh. Shannon was traveling around this weekend with the Kasey Kahne team, and was invited to take a few laps around the track. We are hoping she had a good time with the Sabko, Inc. Racing Team all weekend as we all had running around with Kasey and everyone on the team.
Shawn started third in the first heat, the car was loose and he fell back to fourth only to come back and finish third in the heat race. This put him starting third in the 15 lap feature.
When it finally came to feature time, there were a few rough areas on the track, and some wild racing moments as well. Shawn at one point fell back to eleventh position. He and Pat McDermott battled back and fourth for a few laps for the seventh position. On the thirteenth lap, Shawn got loose exiting turn four and fell back to eleventh. With one lap to go, he managed to get back up into ninth position to finish the race.
Shawn was very pleased with the car and everyone on the team for a job well done. “To come out of the box in a brand new car and have a top ten finish is very exciting.” stated Shawn after the race. He then was even more excited to learn that in National Points, he had placed first in the Semi-Pro division. Hopefully, as the season progresses, the 12a will have even better finishes, and is under way for the 2008 Semi-Pro National INEX Points Championship, as well as The Central PA Semi-Pro Points Championship.
The entire Sabko, Inc. Racing Team would like to thank everyone from Kasey Kahne Racing for an awesome weekend. Look for the new stickers on both the 12a and the 12x.
